We all know that sex sells and as of today almost 19million people, including 18,000 Jamaicans are buying into it online at adultfriendfinder.com the largest adult dating site online. So why do I mention this, well because techcrunch.com carried a story today that in essence said tha the company, adultfriendfinder.com is heavily and pretty credibly rumoured to be acquired for US$1billion dollars. Now that’s a great pay day! I’m quite curious as to who is buying the site. Makes you want to run out and start one huh…but we have a few of our own sex site born out of the Caribbean such as smutvibes.com, sjmagazineonline.com, jampersonals.com and www.jamaicansexstories.com.

I want to know definitively how many Jamaicans access the Net at home, at work, at school, via free WIFIs and more so I want to know what excites Jamaicans about going online, if anything at all, are site publishers exciting Jamaicans at home about the potential of the digital lifestyle that awaits them online. I want to know if we mirroring global trends of social networking, dating, news and research and shopping online as prime activities.

Google Maps the Caribbean. So What’s Next? Use It!
November 13, 2007
by Suzette Gardner
Small towns hardly make big news in the world of online marketing technology; small islands even less so. While most of us have gotten over Google putting small town America on the map—in the most literal of ways, the Caribbean is just getting around to celebrating our inclusion.
Although, Google’s Street View has not made it here yet—that’s still only available for select neighborhoods in a few big U.S. cities such as NYC, Miami and Denver; the Caribbean maps provide the same detailed view of towns and infrastructure (and yes, beaches too) that it does for cities across the U.S. The only difference is that directions are not offered. The Grace Kennedy Group to spend JA$1m in online advertising next year
November 13, 2007
![]()
Yep, I got this from credible sources that the Jamaican conglomerate with strong financial services, food and beverage brands in the Caribbean and Diaspora markets in an initial online media buy will spend JA$1m between The Jamaica Gleaner, The Jamaica Observer and Radio Jamaica websites. They are all mainstream media brands with a strong Diaspora online audience. No while this is by no means a huge amount, it’s a star by a comglomerate that’s considered a major influencer in the Caribbean which can lead it’s competitors and other follower companies online to find opportunities to spend money to target Jamaican, Caribbean, Caribbean Diaspora and the tourist audiences.
The arguement extends too that while it’s great for GraceKennedy to begin online advertising with established media brands, it’s now that Caribbean site publishers can step up with sites that are professionally designed, regularly updated with great text, audio, video content and have credible statistics on the demographics of the site’s audience.

This particular firm spent 6 weeks researching content-based Caribbean websites and they said that the most important factor they were looking at was… Read more
It’s all about online advertising these days
November 9, 2007
In the last few days, it’s been all about online advertising and announcements of new ad networks. Martha Stewart Omnimedia, BuzzMetrics and ZoomInfo will start their own ad networks. Most significantly, Facebook launched their ad network turning friends into endorsers.
Additionally,AOL bought Quigo, which helps publishers sell advertising on their own sites. And Google, the biggest ad network by far, said its site targeting will become even more targeted. It’s been all about online advertising one of the two business models that’s been working and making publishers money and advertising happy(the other is ecommerce).
