Caribgonewild.com, is another Caribbean social networking, community site. What I like about this is that it gives the French, Spanish and English speaking Caribbean people their own entry point and site, well at least that’s the homepage impression. Yawdtalk.com is for the English speaking Caribbean, Minkoze.com for the French Caribbean and OyeCaribe.com for the Spanish-speaking Caribbean.
They begin to let me down once I began exploring beyond the homepage. I had thought that if I am in the Spanish section, I’d see Spanish copy and content staring at me and the same for the French. Unfortunately, it’s all in English and save for a few festival banners and news headlines, the member profiles are the same for all sections.
Caribgonewild.com offers the standard social community menu-event listings, photo galley, classifieds, music videos, chat. I like the addition of the travel and classmate sections. Additionally, according to it’s homepage promises, the site is a place, or maybe will soon to be a place where members can get their own webpage and email, can make international phone calls from, buy tickets for festivals and events, sell their own music and videos their and post their own event flyers for a small fee. I like the idea alot, but as it is now, the site doesn’t fulfill its amazing potential. Maybe it’s still in BETA.
