My 3 month old MacBook died on Friday(Thank God for the warranty)

Having been born, bred and Mac fed since 1994 I bought my midrange MacBook in New York last December at the Apple store. The sucker died on me on Friday. I became confused, pissed then calm when I found the receipt I kept.
It turns out that the logic board is toast but I can get all my data has been recovered execpt the tonnes of email I tend to save. Funny this is what happened to my iBook a few years go, but I didn’t keep the receipt and then, there was no authorised and certified Apple service provider in Jamaica. I head back to New York end of this month for client business, so you know I am going back into the store calm, smiling and demanding a completely new replacement…thank God the warranty is in place.
Yeah I know it’s a machine and things do happen, but you know how we Mac addicts can be about our babies, we do not expect flaws, we demand the impossible…perfection. I am writing this on a borrowed iMac until my new baby is once again home with me. *sniff* *sniff*
really and truly, macs suck
they only look good .. perfect if you have a booth at an expo or something like that and want some cool-looking display pieces.
i know about 5 or 6 macbook owners and every one of them has had to change out some part or the other within a year of getting it. from logic boards going bad (you’re the 2nd i know of .. 2 from 6 is not a good ratio) to cd/dvd drives going kaput to batteries not charging to power adapters catching fire.
every single one of them had some sort of hardware problem that required $$$$ to be fixed. apple makes pretty products … with lots of hardware flaws. the crowds that are always in the repairs section (i forget their pretty name for it) in mac stores are an indicator enough that there is a problem. some stores you can’t get an appointment for weeks. lots of people in line to fix their shoddy apple product lol.
gimmie my dell and windows vista any day over pretty pretty macbook
Aiyy Sandor, you drank the entire bottle of Haterade huh?! At the risk of starting yet another Mac vs PC war, since really PC is dead and Mac continues to reign supreme.
You are repping for Dell….lawks have you no standards, you couldn’t even say Sony Vaio or something star! LOL…
It’s all good Sandor, the great thing is…everyone can find their flavour in the marketplace. I am writing this on a borrowed iMac and man I simply wouldn’t have it any other way.
sony vaoi might as well be a mac
it just looks good but it’s a piece of crap LOL
i’m on my 3rd dell in 5 years. the other 2 still work just fine (never had to fix/change any parts on them either lol), but i just like to get a new one every 2 years
I love my Macbook Pro and I have the best service from the Apple store, especially after the debacle that was my HP laptop.
I paid money once and if anything goes wrong - like when I bought from the first batch of Macbook Pros and my screen died a few weeks later - it was replaced at no charge. They even gave me a brand new Macbook Pro to solve an issue last year!
It has also been so nice to not worry about viruses and while Macs can crash, it happens so rarely that I truly can’t go back to a Windows-based machine.
Plus I can run Windows if I wanted and have better software (Frontrow vs. Powerpoint anyone?).
Hope your Mac gets sorted out soon Ingrid.
Fren, ignore all the mac nay sayers - they secretly brandish ipods and iphones…look deep enough and they have mac stuff under their beds….heh heh…
