Let’s start with the list cause man, has it grown since my last post.
Count them, we got 10 dating sites now online catering to Caribbean nationals. So there’s no excuse for you to be lonely at home busy loving up your blow up doll or overworking your battery operated friend. That little bit of naughtiness out of the way, online dating is big business, just Google plentyoffish and see what I mean, this one site is a US$10 million a year business, started by one guy now run by about 6 people. Dating sites are about hooking people up, people are always seeking love, friendship or something in between and the ability to do it online, have access to people outside of your own country has made it that more appealing.
More Dating SItes
I did a story a while back about Caribsingles.com now being the largest singles site in the Caribbean with over 20,000 active singles. Well because of that we heard that vibesconnect.com has more, but since they are a social network and not a dating site we disregarded. We also heard from the owner of hypedates.com who challenged caribsingles.com claim and then whoaaa a mini banter about hypedates.com alleged spam based marketing techniques then followed. It was interested in the comments section there for a while.
All this got me asking just how many Caribbean dating sites are there and do we have a growth industry on our hands here in the region and from the numbers, yep it certainly looks that way. But who will be the number one site, that site that’s like Yahoo or Match.com for the Caribbean? I think it’s too early, what do you think?
How do they make money?
99% of the Caribbean sites are free to join with no premium upgrades to pay for. All are like that except www.caribbeanmatch.com which has a basic free registration but to fully interact with other singles the membership fee begins at US$19.95 a month. So if most of the sites are offering a completely free dating service, how do they make money? Simple by adding Google Adsense to their sites and earning money from the traffic, the amount of people who click on the ads. And can you really make serious money like that? Again, go Google plentyoffish and read their business story. You’ll be running to find your own white label dating software, spend a night thinking up a wicked domain name and launching your own dating site. Knock yourself out; just make sure you have a couple hundred US Dollars to market the site.
What makes a Dating site good?
The answer to this question may always be subjective, as we always praise whatever we have a great experience with. But I think the one thing that would make a dating site great is the quality pool of people there, because at the end of the day it’s about the memorable experience you had on the site that will make you and others come back.

The online dating industry is going through a period of “Professionalization” and the business is become more “Mainstream” so it’s important to focus on Quality Profiles going forward….
Niche Marketing(Caribbean) is kool, it allows you to compete directly with big sites such as plentyoffish.com, YES you hear it from me. You can compete with plentyoffish.com through Niche Marketing since plentyoffish.com market to everyone!

I don’t know which is number one but I’m sure they are giving what’s best for their subscribers. Actually, I know one Caribbean dating site and for me it’s second to none. If you’ll agree.

Dating is an extremely competitive and saturated niche. That’s
why many people don’t believe there is any money in it, and
why the smart marketers are raking in buckets of cash every
single day.
Dating has a universal appeal. Young people, old people,
men, women, Christians, Jewish people…. you get the point.
Anyone who is single is fair game.
The market is massive, probably as massive as any other
niche in existence.
