Calling Jamaican Bloggers- A Blogging 101 Workshop

I’ve been asked to produce a small workshop that teaches the fundamentals of blogging. Theme: How to Blog for Fun & Profit. Covering The Technical, Design, Editorial, Monetisation and Marketing aspects. So ambitious bloggers will learn the following: How to set it up- registering your domain name, selecting a hosting company; How Wordpress works; How to find and select, upload and customise templates; How to market and monetize it; How to stay committed.
Is their really a need, an audience in Jamaica, the Caribbean for such a workshop and How much are people willing to pay- JA$3,000, JA$4,000,$5,000? The workshop will be taught by two seasoned bloggers in Jamaica and the Caribbean – Ingrid Riley(SiliconCaribe.com) and Shonari Gow(Cashplusinvestment.com and Deshoda.com) with the contributed help from our professional bloggers in US, Australia and Canada. Interested?

good idea but something like a blogging workshop would be better if combined with other technology products or presentations. I’m not sure if persons would even want to pay for such information much of which is freely available if hey are tech savvy to begin with.
Hey that’s a great idea! Are you talking about linking Blogging with Affiliate Marketing or Online Advertising? Share your ideas. I’d love to hear it
That is true Jamaipanese. I do think that workshops should be separated into categories. [beginners and advance] It might better serve those who at different knowledge level. I may be interested in getting more information on how to use affiliate marketing but already have a good grasp on basic blogging .
Just a thought
ok ok I like this discsussion. Well this initial Bloggers Workshop is labeled Blogging 101, the general basics, outline of things I listed. It can then be the start of other blogging workshops, tracks that are more specific eg Monetizing your Blog, or Marketing Your Blog.
We’re really survey others to see what their needs are, interests are…we are very excited about the blossoming of blogging in Jamaica and the region and want to share what we know as well. And talking to someone you know, who knows is that much more convenient that spending 2 weeks working the Net.
So we’ll see.
It sounds like a noble idea, but i tend to agree with Leon on this. It would be best suited to have it along with some other tech workshop, as i don’t think Jamaicans are going to pay that much, as based on my assessment, blogging is not that popular in Jamaica as yet.
Great idea!!
