Sensei Godin is at it again.Tribes, his new book will be out on October 16 and is described as ” a 147-page, anecdote-filled call to readers to become leaders of a movement, or “tribe.” Hmmm…sounds like a further endorsement and dissection of social media, but we’ll see.

JamaicanJokes.com is the Caribbean’s most successful Facebook application to date and I judge success here by virtue of the fact that it’s creator Internet pioneer and entrepreneur Sandor Panton got it developed, marketed it and now has over 40,000 daily users of the app and did this in a period of nine months. The app was launched on December 4, 2007.

This year is the 20th anniversary of Hurricane Gilbert hitting and devastating the many homes of friends, families and fellow Jamaicans. Not a fond memory at all for me, as my family, we lost the roof of our home, many possessions and precious photos that September, yet it was the first thing I searched for on Stormpulse.com.

Visitjamaica.com -the new Jamaica Tourist Board website was launched on September 4th. I like the design, the concept and the music of course. I heard it was done at a cost of US$230,000 / JA$16.1 million website, that’s fine too, the only question I have is… how much of that money was spent locally, because the design and programming talent exists in Jamaica big time!
