LIME came a knocking to match the Internet speed that FLOW’s been Rocking

While updating MobileCaribe.com this morning. I got a call on my landline and it was from L.I.M.E, formerly Cable & Wireless, who I’ve unashamedly called Crabbit & Wicked in the past and many times they deserved it. 🙂 The customer service lady on the phone said they are randomly calling existing Internet customers to offer them 8Mbps of ADSL speed for JA$2,699. If you say yes to the package (which I did) you get the first 30 days at the old rate and you can choose to ask them to turn it back down to your old speed (I had 2mbs but never got more than 875kbps in the 3 years I’ve had it).

This new package they are introducing is clearly meant to go head to head with Flow’s Rock unlimited Internet package which currently gives you 8Mbps for JA$ 2,450.00. Quick to note that LIME’s offering is ADSL and shared vs Flow which is a direct pipe to your house and pretty much close to the 8Mbps ( I hear) they say they are going give you. So beyond a mere price comparison, on a deeper level it’s like comparing Apples to Oranges.

Why do I cuss Cable & Wireless so?
Now my close friends have always wondered why I’ve cussed Cable & Wireless/LIME so much over the years, especially since my mom worked there for 30 years and I got a scholarship from them to go to college. I always replied….SO!!! shitty service and monopolistic ways are to be held up to the light and berated regardless. That said, I am super happy to be getting 8Mbps to my apt and at a decent rate. I can’t wait for them to turn it up and see what my speed is like especially on weekends when the world is at home and online.

Bye Telstar Cable. Hello Apple TV.
To be honest I’d really wanted Flow in my apartment, but the idiot strata manager complex in his blinding ignorance is blocking progress. Cable & Wireless as a telecom provider is in there though and so are Logic One and Telstar as cable providers. I’ve kept Cable & Wireless because my business demands I am online 80% of my waking day and yes people do still call landlines. I’ve since kicked boring and limited Telstar Cable out of my house… I’d prefer to get Flow’s Triple Play (Internet, voip and digital cable)…especially the Cable part since I am a sucker for variety and choice. Now, since I have no idea when I can get decent cable to my apt, I am buying myself an Apple TV for my birthday this October, which would work well with the new LIME speed. I’m going to test drive this 8Mbps for the next 30 days and tell you guys how it feels…
