Jamaica Startup Weekend gets Boost with Google Partnership

Startup Weekend  Organisation announced yesterday that it now has a Google as a global sponsor and partner.  What this means is that Google and Startup Weekend are teaming up to help developers and entrepreneurs launch new startups! What this means for Startup Weekend organisers like this blog’s parent company ConnectiMass, is that they are now in a closer relationship with Google.

In essence Startup Weekend Jamaica which will be held on February 3-5th, 2012, will be working together with Google to run a pre-Startup Weekend Jamaica “Google Bootcamp.” These bootcamps are designed to help attendees, primarily developers and entrepreneurs, to develop their technical skills so they can jump head-first into their Startup Weekend project.

Google and the Startup Weekend organisation in Seattle, USA are working together to roll out these bootcamps all over the world. Google and Startup Weekend will help provide content, curricula, and resources to the local organizers of the bootcamps. Startup Weekend Jamaica has already applied for a Google Bootcamp as its event is slated for early 2012 in Kingston, Jamaica.

Entrepreneurial Education for Jamaica’s aspiring tech entrepreneurs

Startup Weekends are 54-hour events where developers, designers, marketers, product managers, and startup enthusiasts come together to share ideas, form teams, build products, and launch startups.  This is excellent entrepreneurial education for aspiring entrepreneurs and those already in the game to seek to sharpen their skills by learning more and getting exposuring on this global platform.

Startup Weekend organisation is based in Seattle, USA and has launched a global phenomenon.
