  • It’s not ageism babes. There is a mission of this pivotal event is ICT and Youth Employment because unemployment is highest amongst our young people. So it’s a way of introducing them to the trends and opportunities, showcasing their talent in the Apps Contest Which yes the rule is to have at least half of the team being 25 and under. The Sports Hackathon is open to anyone between ages 13-35.
My role in Digital Jam 2.0 is that I am the Project Manager brought in by World Bank.
I agree with you… “Jamaica need all the brainpower we can find, since we’re already suffering greatly from the brain-drain of skilled labour. All those who can contribute to innovation and help build a stronger economy should be allowed to do so.” …but you may also agree that this event or any other event cannot solve all concerns. Cool beans.

  • Just Saying

What’s up with the ageism? This is one of the many things sabotaging progress in this country. We like to discriminate against people. If this all about ‘young Jamaicans’ then what is John Henry Thompson doing there? What are you doing there Ingrid? Are you a young Jamaican? Why not be all-inclusive and let even 60, 80 and 180 year-olds enter? Jamaica need all the brainpower we can find, since we’re already suffering greatly from the brain-drain of skilled labour. All those who can contribute to innovation and help build a stronger economy should be allowed to do so, without worrying about their age. Nonsense.
