This interview is the fourth in SiliconCaribe’s  series of Caribbean Women in Tech where we profile and celebrate their ambitions and accomplishments. We also seek to inspire others to view technology industry as a career and entrepreneurship path. We’ll be publishing one interview every Wednesday for the next two months.

This week we have a short and sweet interview with Arts and Culture blogger, Karin Wilson-Edmonds.

SC: What is the name, subject an URL of your blog?
KE: YardEdge, a blog exploring the Edge of Jamaican culture  www.yardedge.net

SC: Describe your blog in one sentence.
KE: It’s mainly about Jamaican arts and culture, what is happening in Jamaica that is outside the mainstream.

SC: Why do you blog?
KE:  I started YardEdge as I thought that the traditional media was not giving enough attention to the myriad cultural events, interesting people, and places to go in Jamaica.Jamaica is so full of beautiful interesting people doing really cool things and amazing places that most people have no idea about.

SC: How long have you been blogging and what blogging software do you use?
KE: I’ve been blogging since March 2008.  I use wordpress.

SC: What’s your favorite blog besides your own?
KE: Nyamist (a blog about Jamaican food) plus Silicon Caribe of course!

SC: What’s the one thing you want to learn to become a better blogger?
KE:  I want to get better at the tech elements of blogging so i do not have to ask my husband to do it!

SC: What do you think the state of the blogosphere in our region?
KE: There are so many cool and interesting blogs out there now…a lot more than when i started.  it is a great thing!
