The Business OF

One of the habits I want Jamaican people to get out of is calling money….ting…thing….for example …”you have that thing for me?” . It’s called money and it’s really a good thing to want, get, have, work for, attract, spend, save and Invest it.  We need to change our mindset and connection to money and wealth.

Our national money mindset is built on lack, scarcity, asking for “support” and demonising success and wealth. I blame religion, remnants of our plantocracy and politicians. And this is why I now love those wealth doctrine preachers, the Internet and a flatter world full of 💰Opportunities.

This is one of the reasons we see such extreme crimes. It’s because people realise they have been hoodwinked and bamboozled and are angry and want to hit back and take what they believe was hidden or stolen from them. #notcondoningcrime

That’s why I love the fact that more of us are realising the power to make money..build wealth…not to floss…but to build real assets…real estate, stocks, cash piles, profitable businesses…has always been with us. With the advent of the internet we have no excuses even more so because the game has changed…there s no return to the… good ole days. But we still have lots of work to do, to show, tell, teach and train our people on how and where to the opportunities. #DigitalAge

Some major mindset reprogramming has to happen to move our people into realising their power to create and own…to see problems as sexy and solutions to them as mega sources of cash. They need to really understand the business of technology and to enjoy the process. Yet, this Digital Age window of opportunity won’t last forever.

I will talk continue my crusade about how Jamaica thinks about the business of tech+sports, tech+our natural plants & resources, tech+creative industries, tech+our food. We’re already so wealthy in so many ways, I just want more of us to own more of it.

And what brought this on today was that I spent the day moderating the UNDP Social Good Summit Jamaica yesterday at Northern Caribbean University.

What I heard coming out of the mouths of the 12 speakers- 4 University Principals- 4 of their Technical Expert and 4 Change Makers…made me so damn excited.. because we already have so much working with..in terms of our tech and innovations… but we need to move faster and be smarter and understand the business of.
