Cuba reports little Internet and telecom progress

Cubans’ ability to communicate with one another and the world remained well below the norm for the Caribbean and Latin America in 2009, according to a government report released this week. Despite the legalization of mobile phones in 2008 there were just 1.8 million phone lines in the country, or 15.5 lines for every 100 inhabitants, which was the lowest in the region, according to the United Nations International Telecommunications Union.

Bottom Feeder, Game Changer- Which one are you?

I remember when I had just started to grow my then web development company Dutchpot Interactive from 2003-2006. We enjoyed brisk business primarily because of our customer service, design talents and our keen understanding of the business context of why companies must be online. Digicel tagged my private text messages with their promotions…how invasive !

( JAMAICA) Digicel typically has many promotions and competitions to win things running at the same time. They promote their stuff 360 degrees and hey that is why they are number uno in the Jamaican market- they are ubiquitous. More

LIME came a knocking to match the Internet speed that FLOW’s been Rocking

While updating MobileCaribe.com this morning. I got a call on my landline and it was from L.I.M.E, formerly Cable & Wireless, who I’ve unashamedly called Crabbit & Wicked in the past and many times they deserved it. :-) The customer service lady on the phone said they are randomly calling existing Internet customers to offer them 8Mbps of ADSL speed for JA$2,699. If you say yes to the package (which I did) you get the first 30 days at the old rate and you can choose to ask them to turn it back down to your old speed (I had 2mbs but never got more than 875kbps in the 3 years I’ve had it).
