ScotiaBank leveraging the web to reach 18 – 30 demographic

by David MullingsA friend of mine brought this new Scotiabank promotion to my attention to find out if it is something we would advertise (I pointed out that we didn’t get enough traffic from the Caribbean to really be beneficial).This promotion is brilliant – If a company wants to reach the 18 – 30 demographic, this is certainly a good way to reach the most connected ones, and those make up the highest quality target market for sure. Tech-savvy Gen-Y and Gen-X that fall into the group should gravitate towards this contest because many of us are guilty of feeling that we can run companies better than the current management.Scotiabank is clearly leading the way in the Caribbean when it comes to online marketing, leveraging the web and engaging users rather than just advertising to them. I only hope that more companies follow this example because that will help to grow the industry in the Caribbean.For those who would ask – Yes, I did enter 🙂 What’s to lose? There is only an upside, plus I get to leverage my days as youth marketing director at a competing financial institution in Jamaica.
