ENTERPRISE- According to Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth Stephen Lashley, too few  Barbadian businesses are taking advantage of the opportunities provided by the  world wide web.

Speaking in Parliament yesterday as the debate focused on the Electronic Transactions (Amendment) Bill 2014, he stressed that the need for more businesses to not only advertise, but sell their goods online was highlighted by
the demands of consumers.

“If you analyse the development of Barbados from 2001 when this Electronic Transactions Act became law until the year 2014, I would say that by and large we had what is necessary for their to be a significant uptake of utility in relation to electronic commerce. What I do not see is that translating into a reality. I believe that to a large extent too many businesses in Barbados have been too shy to take advantage of having a presence on the world wide web.
