Next Gen Creators Scores Pebble Tech Partnership for their Tech Events

Youth Entrepreneurship Group Next Gen Creators partners with Pebble Technology to provide Pebble smart watches for their developer focused events in Jamaica. Through this partnership Next Gen Creators will be able to provide event organizers with Pebble hardware and access to Pebble evangelist for workshops.

Pebble Technology is a American start-up that sold over 1,000,000 units of their smartwatches and has a larger community of developers who create apps to enhance the functionalities of the watch.

Sponsorship and Marketing coordinator for Next Gen Creators , Ja’dan Johnson, said that this partnership was created to help youths locally to explore their idea and developer skills.

Since the start of 2015 Next Gen Creators Group has hosted 2 events and workshops for Jamaican young people with an interest in business and technology. The team organized Jamaica’s first ever hackathon for teens in April and brought over 50 teens together to work for 30 hours on a project that would solve every day problems.
The first and second placed entries used Pebble watches to complete their project, one notable app was Blind Spot, which would use the Pebbles GPS and vibrating features to help visually impaired individuals.

Pebble Technology along with several other entities such as Google , Digicel  , Start-Up Jamaica , Wisynco, The Development Bank Of Jamaica , Jamaica National and others , have sponsored these events.
