SiliconCaribe.com is 10 years old officially this year so we’re going to be doing a couple of things to make it special. Super special for you who’ve kept reading us and those of you who keep attending our tech events and telling others about all that we’re doing.

This year we’re going to take it up a notch in everything we do.

Our theme: Amplify.Disrupt.Inspire

We’re going to Amplify our Caribbean Tech History – who and what companies have been the pioneers and innovators in the Caribbean Tech Space, what have they done and where they are up tp now. Plus we will spotlight what the Caribbean is currently doing in Tech and the people behind it all. It’s going to be exciting to discover and showcase things as 2017 unfolds deliciously.

We’re going to further disrupt how people perceive the Caribbean in the Global Digital Economy as we share our Caribbean stories and how we do so.

We also intend to inspire everyone who read and watch our content, and those who attend our events, to do more great things with technology. We are smack in the middle of the Digital Age and there has never been a time where the opportunities are so abundant and the barriers to doing so many things so low.

With that in mind, we’re committed to being your go to brand when you want to know what the Caribbean is doing with Tech.

On our Blog we have published almost just under 1800 articles chronicling the who and what of tech in the Caribbean.

Through the roster of Caribbean tech events we have produced or been involved in…Kingston BETA, Caribbean BETA, DigitalJam2.0, VentureOut Challenge, Developing the Caribbean Conference, Startup Weekend Jamaica, Agrihack Caribbean, SXSW Accelerator Event, Caribbean Bloggers Week and this year Caribbean Women in Tech Summit. Yep, we are have produced more Caribbean Tech Events than anyone else and we’re proud of that.

And we’ve only just begun.

And I say we, as SiliconCaribe.com started as a one woman passion-driven blog, there has been stunning contributions from some of our Caribbean Tech Industry luminaries and they will continue to do so. We curate great content from other tech bloggers primarily out of Jamaica and Trinidad and that will continue too. As for the over 80 events we have done, that is all team work of volunteers, seasoned professionals  plus some forward-thinking Caribbean companies who happily get involved.

So this year we will continue with our pioneering Kingston BETA – Tech Startup Meetup event, we will be having regular Twitter Chats, at least bi-monthly starting February 22; we will start publishing #DigitalCaribbean a monthly digest of news, curated insights and upcoming events. We will be having our first Caribbean Women in Tech Summit in September and we are most definitely having a better version of Caribbean Bloggers Week this time in October. Added to that we will as usual get involved with a few select Caribbean Tech events and online campaigns.

We believe you will learn a lot, get to know about some more amazing people and get excited and inspired by what the Caribbean is doing with Tech.  We’re going to be abundant with content on our blog, as well as on both my personal and the SiliconCaribe Instagram accounts, with a dash of Twitter. So stay close as things unfold. You can also follow and share our hashtag for this year, it is #SCis10.
