InvesTT welcomes Hacker Hostel to Trinidad and Tobago

Software Design and Development took centre stage on Thursday at the Hacker Hostel Demo Day 2018, with live demonstrations of locally developed software solutions. The event, open to invited stakeholders only, is the brainchild of Winston Wilkins and Akua Walters of Jamaica.

It was hosted by Jamaican Information Technology and Solutions company, Hacker Hostel Limited, in partnership with the University of the West Indies, InvesTT Limited and PitchIT Caribbean. The event is the grand finale to the first Hacker Hostel Summer Solutions Programme to be hosted in Trinidad and Tobago.

BARBADOS TELECOMS COMPANY DROWING IN DEBT 

Barbados’ newest telecommunications provider has revealed it is sending home 80 per cent of its workforce and will suspend all debt payments in a bid to survive a multi-million-dollar debt.

The one-year-old Ozone Wireless said it owed BDS$8 million (US$4 million) to over 50 creditors, and would therefore undertake a three-year debt re-profiling programme.

What’s happening on Caribbean Podcasts this week.

PIONEERING THE USE OF COUNTRY-LEVEL DOMAIN NAMES IN THE CARIBBEAN

Outside of Government, the use of country code top level domains (ccTLDs), such as .ag; .lc, .jm and .tt, are not popular in the Caribbean. Further many Caribbean countries do not directly manage their own ccTLDs, and so may not fully appreciate the value of that resource. One of the exceptions is Trinidad and Tobago.
