We got curious, then requested an interview with CEO of Capitalor, Jonas Duxén. Read the complete interview. SC: We noticed that your google ads target the Jamaican market specifically? Why is that?JD:This is because we see a rising potential in the Jamaican market. Jamaican individuals are becoming more aware of alternative investments and motivated to take direct control over their funds, which leads many to start to trade in different commodities electronically over the internet. Not just long-term trading, but daytrading as well. The stock market offers one solid opportunity for traders, but when it comes to daytrading; the stock market couldn’t even be slightly compared to the Forex market in terms of liquidity and price action. Therefore many active daytraders choose the Forex over the stock market, and this is likely to happen with a larger group of individuals in Jamaica as well. Therefore we have decided to target this group of Jamaicans quite early in our Google ads before the retail forex landscape is crowded with firms offering forex trading to Jamaicans.

SC: What kind of business opps do you see in that market?JD: We see an opportunity to seize a share of the Jamaican retail forex market early on, before it’s crowded with competitors.

SC: What has been the update of your google ads from this market?JD: Not an immense response, but we’ve received a bunch of inquiries from interested Jamaican traders and we’ve noticed an increase for every month our Google ads been running.

SC: Does your company plan on moving more into that territory?JD: We have discussed it, but decided to wait and see how the responses towards the Ads matures.

SC: How long has Capitalor been in business?JD: We’re recently established and haven’t been in business as long as other major Forex brokers, but we believe this would be to our advantage because as a new player on the block you have to outsmart the competition and not rely on raw size alone. You have to come up with new things constantly, like for example targeting Jamaican traders.

SC: The company has client primarily in which countries? JD: Primarily in Sweden, but our client group are also situated in the Americas and Great Britain.

SC: Where is the company based? JD: The company is a Swedish Aktiebolag, abbreviated AB. As such we’re based in Sweden.

SC: Outside of an interest in Jamaica, do you also market to other Caribbean countries, if so can you name them and why you selected those countries to target?SC: As of now we haven’t marketed to other Caribbean countries. We’re focusing on Jamaica and would like to see where that takes us in terms of clients, before trying to widen our reach to other Caribbean countries.
