Caribbean Economist Marla Dukharan leads a stellar lineup of nine world-class speakers from five countries who will speak at the Caribbean’s first business conference held in the Metaverse this Friday, November 18, 2022.

The event is aimed at lowering the barriers of entry for Caribbean firms and pointing them to business possibilities.

“What I care about most is getting the opportunity into people’s hands to be early adopters. That is what this event is really about,” Dukharan Said. “The trends of the future can start right here in the Caribbean,” she continued.

Dukharan who will deliver her annual Economic Outlook for 2023 at the Metaverse event, shared that the Conference Agenda will give attendees exclusive insights and strategies to follow to make 2023 a success: global and Caribbean economic outlooks, Caribbean-specific research insights for developing business strategies, Metaverse business use cases, and legal and financial considerations in the Metaverse.

The lineup of world-class speakers includes

  • David McWilliams, Economist, Author, and Broadcaster
  • Kirk-Anthony Hamilton, Founder of Tech Beach Retreat
  • Racquel Moses, CEO of Caribbean Climate-Smart Accelerator
  • Henry Mooney, Economics Advisor at Inter-American Development Bank
  • Diether W. Beuermann, Lead Economist at Inter-American Development Bank
  • Anthony Zamore, Executive Director of PWC
  • Shelly-Ann Mohammed, Head of ACCA in the South American & Caribbean region
  • Narayanan Vaidyanathan, Head of Business Insights at ACCA
  • Marla Dukharan, Caribbean Economist and Advisor

The event also features a live concert with Trinidadian rapso band, 3Canal.

“By entering this virtual environment early and offering hands-on experience to Caribbean businesses, we will help them see the opportunities available to them. This is quite different from a conference that merely talks about the Metaverse, since participants will enter into a Metaverse environment, interact as avatars, be able to teleport to multiple locations, and actually see usage cases first-hand. Now is our time to move beyond the constraints of our past, and embrace an industry that is blossoming.”

McKinsey & Company estimates that the industry has attracted over USD 120 billion in investment in 2022. The firm found that more than 15% of corporate revenue is expected to come from the Metaverse in the next 5 years according to 25 senior executives, and more than 79% of Metaverse users have already made purchases there.

“With its potential to generate up to USD 5 trillion in value by 2030, the Metaverse is too big for companies to ignore.” – McKinsey, June 2022
