Why Caribbean Tech Week -And What We’re Building Next

Published

on

One week. Many cities. One connected Caribbean innovation ecosystem.

The Caribbean has never had a shortage of ideas, talent, creativity, or ambition.

What we have lacked is enough connection and visibility across our markets.

Too often, the founder building something remarkable in Kingston doesn’t know the investor in Miami looking for Caribbean opportunities. The tech company growing in Trinidad may have little connection to the entrepreneur in Martinique, the creator in Curaçao, the business leader in London, or the Caribbean professional in Toronto who could become a partner, customer, investor, or collaborator.

We are an ecosystem spread across islands, languages, countries, and diaspora cities.

But what if, for one week, we intentionally connected and applied it like never before?

That is the idea behind Caribbean Tech Week.

From February 28–March 6, 2027, SiliconCaribe will produce the second Caribbean Tech Week: a global, multi-city week connecting and amplifying the founders, creators, investors, companies and communities shaping what’s next in Caribbean technology, innovation and digital culture.

In person. Virtual. Across multiple cities.

Across the English, French, Spanish and Dutch Caribbean – and the diaspora hubs where Caribbean talent, capital and influence already live.

Why We Created Caribbean Tech Week

Because we believe the Caribbean innovation economy is much bigger than any one island, event, industry or language.

There is extraordinary work happening across this region.

Startups are being launched. Technology companies are growing. Creators are building global audiences. New digital businesses are emerging. Investors are looking for opportunities. Established companies are transforming. Caribbean talent is building at home and throughout the diaspora.

But much of that activity remains fragmented.

We need more opportunities to see each other, find each other, and do things together.

Caribbean Tech Week is designed to help make that happen.

Not by bringing everyone into one conference hall in one country, but by creating a shared platform that allows cities and communities to activate where they are.

A meetup in Kingston.

A founder dinner in Miami.

A fintech conversation in Port of Spain.

An AI event in London.

A pitch competition, workshop, product launch, investor forum, hackathon, live podcast, or community gathering somewhere else entirely.

Different events. Different cities. Different communities.

One connected week.

And collectively, they tell a much bigger story about Caribbean innovation than any single event could.

We’ve Already Proven the Idea

Caribbean Tech Week did not start from zero.

It is built on nearly two decades of SiliconCaribe doing the work of connecting the Caribbean technology and innovation ecosystem.

Since 2007, SiliconCaribe has produced more than 380 events across 35+ countries and cities, directly connected more than 150,000 people, and helped connect more than US$10 million in capital to the ecosystem.

We also created Kingston BETA, the Caribbean’s first and longest-running tech startup event series and community.

Over the years, we have watched what happens when the right people get into the same room.

Founders meet investors.

Startups find customers.

People find collaborators.

Companies discover talent.

Ideas cross borders.

Relationships become businesses, partnerships and investments.

Caribbean Tech Week takes that experience, network and ecosystem knowledge and activates it at a new scale.

And in February 2026, we tested the idea.

Our first Caribbean Tech Week brought together 14 events across 10 cities, with more than 35 speakers, through independent hosts and collaborators who believed in what we were trying to build.

That first year, the run-up time was super short; the process practically didn’t exist, but it proved the concept.

It showed us that Caribbean Tech Week did not have to be one event owned by one city.

It could become a distributed platform for an entire ecosystem.

The Real Opportunity

Year two is about expanding that network.

For Caribbean Tech Week 2027, we want to connect more cities, more markets, more industries, and more of the global Caribbean diaspora.

That means looking beyond the traditional boundaries that often separate our ecosystem.

English Caribbean. French Caribbean. Spanish Caribbean. Dutch Caribbean. Diaspora.

Because technology doesn’t care where one Caribbean language ends and another begins.

Neither does capital.

Neither does talent.

Neither should opportunity.

Our ambition is to make Caribbean Tech Week a week when the global Caribbean innovation economy becomes unusually visible and unusually connected.

A week when you can discover companies you didn’t know existed.

Meet founders you should know.

Find investors looking at the region.

Discover talent.

Launch something.

Enter a new market.

Find a customer.

Start a partnership.

Tell your story

Have the conversation that leads to something bigger six months later.

That is the real opportunity.

This Is Bigger Than Events

Caribbean Tech Week is not about filling a calendar with events.

The events are the activation layer.

What we’re really building is connective infrastructure for the global Caribbean innovation economy.

A platform that helps people, companies, capital, markets, and opportunities move more easily across borders.

And a platform that helps us tell a more complete story about the Caribbean.

Because the Caribbean has always been a source of creativity, ingenuity, and influence.

Our music travels.

Our culture travels.

Our people travel.

Our ideas travel.

Our entrepreneurship and innovation deserve that same global visibility.

Caribbean Tech Week is about showing ourselves – and the world – that entrepreneurship, innovation, and excellence are all part of the Caribbean story.

So, What Happens Next?

The new Caribbean Tech Week 2027 website is now live, and the call is officially open.

We are looking for more hosts, partners, sponsors, and collaborators across the Caribbean and global diaspora who want to help build this with us.

Host an event in your city.

Bring your company or community into the week.

Partner with us across a market or industry.

Sponsor the platform and help us connect the ecosystem at scale.

Showcase what you’re building.

Bring your network.

Bring your ideas.

Bring Caribbean Tech Week to your city.

Because ultimately, CTW will become valuable not because SiliconCaribe says it is.

It will become valuable because the ecosystem builds together.

From February 28–March 6, 2027, we get another chance to show what becomes possible when a fragmented, nah, I prefer decentralised… but extraordinarily talented global Caribbean ecosystem connects at the same time.

Discover what’s being built.
Meet the people building it.
Connect across borders to collaborate, do business and invest.
